Warren Patten Coon (1879-1951) was a Methodist minister and a trustee of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey. The collection contains correspondence between Coon and several relatives, circa 1920-1939, along with research notes, genealogical lists, charts and family data sheets that Coon compiled in the course of conducting research on the Coon family, including extensive genealogies of the descendants of David Coon of Shadigee, N.Y. and Daniel Coon of Hopkinton, R.I. The collection also contains draft essays about the Coon family.

Warren Patten Coon (1879-1951) was a Methodist minister and a trustee of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey. Early in his career, Coon led several large congregations in the Newark, New Jersey and later served as a chaplain in the United States Army during World War I. He made an unsuccessful bid for Congress in 1922, running as the Republican candidate from New Jersey's 8th District.
